Posted by Dhani_phantom 26.10.09 2 comments
Disclaimer :

1. This article is for education purpose only.
2. I don't being held responsible to anything can cause damage to your mobile phone. Try it on your own risk.
3. What you have done here can void your Nokia warranty.
If you okay with that disclaimer above let continue. This article well tested on XP SP2 and my Nokia N73.

Q & A :

Q : Why upgrade to the latest firmware needed ?
A : Because the latest firmware can solve a lot of bugs such as slow messaging, slow opening gallery, RAM issue, etc

Q : I have Nokia phone that still in warranty why must i follow your tutorial while i can upgrade in Nokia Center ?
A : You're right. You don't need this one. Please go to Nokia Center to upgrade your firmware free of charge.

Q : Why offline ? You can use online update with Nokia Software Updater (NSU).
A : Thats because i have a bad internet connection.
If download offline firmware from rapidshare failed i just re-download again and again,
BUT if download online update through NSU failed then your phone DEAD.

Q : I have N70 or N73 or another N-series. I want to upgrade to Music Edition or Internet Edition with the latest firmware. Is that possible ?
A : Yes. This is what i have done. Just follow this article.

Q : I pay a visit to blue-nokia(dot)com and my phone is not listed. Do i need to upgrade ?
A : You're using old-fashion mobile phone (no offence ). Then you can read the rest of this article but you won't need upgrade your phone.

Q : If flashing failed and my phone dead what should i do ?
A : Then you should read more careful my article. No i'm kidding, no worry about that.
You can flashing dead phone too.

Tools and Requirment :

1. Modern PC spec with XP installed
2. Nokia USB cable
3. Phoenix 2008 or later http://rs635tl4.rapidshare.com/files...2009.12_v2.exe (143 MB)
4. Offline firmware for your Nokia type. Size vary 40 - 100 MB.
*. Check your current firmware by pressing *#0000# in your mobile phone. Write down in notepad
*. Visit http://www.blue-nokia.com/obnoxy/index02_en.html.
*. Choose your Nokia type.
*. Choose your latest firmware with region on your country.
As you can see in image my N73 has 2 latest firmware 4.0839.42.2.1 v11 (Music Edition) APAC and EMEA.
APAC stand for Asia and Pasific.
EMEA stand for Europe Middle East and Africa.
I live in Indonesia so i choose APAC version.

Preparation :

1. In your PC :
*. Create restore point through Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore. Name it 'Before flashing' click create.
*. Remove Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Software Updater, Nokia Care Suite, Nokia Modem Drivers, Nokia Connectivity Drivers through Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, but DO NOT REMOVE PC Connectivity Solution and Windows - Nokia Modem.

*. Restart your PC.
*. Do not connect your phone before installing Phoenix software.
*. Disable all antivirus, firewall, antispyware, antimalware etc.
*. Disable screen saver.
*. Check C:\Program files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\ If you have those folder in there delete all.

2. In your mobile phone :
*. Backup all your mobile phone content since all your data will be lost after flashing.
*. If you protect your memory card with password, then remove it.
*. Remove your memory card from your mobile phone.
*. Go to Tools -> Settings -> Security -> Phone and SIM.
Set Pin code request to Off.
Set Autolock period to None.
Set Lock code to default password which is 12345.

*. Don’t run Phoenix software now.
*. Connect your Nokia handset to your pc with USB cable in PC Suite mode.
*. windows will start installing the connectivity drivers as soon as you connect the phone. Let it install completely.
If this process failed then you must be remove PC Connectivity Solution. But don't worry we created restore point earlier remember. Restore your system and start remove Nokia component again but do not remove PC Connectivity Solution.

2. Installing Firmware Files From The Offline Package You Downloaded :
*. If your firmware file is in .rar format, first extract it using WinRar on desktop.
*. On desktop you will find .exe file of your firmware file.
*. Install the exe file. Do not change its path. It will install it to default location of C:\Program files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\
*. If you have downloaded a firmware File which Doesn't have an autosetup, then just copy your Extracted folder Manually in the directory C:\Program files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\
*. Be sure you install updated firmware. You cannot downgrade your phone’s firmware in BB5 phones which includes all new Nokia phones including N-Series.
*. Phoenix allows downgrading but your phone doesn’t allow it as your phone has some special security built into it. So no use of trying it. You’ll get an error message.

3. Flashing Procedure (Updating to latest firmware version) :
*. Open Phoenix Service Software.

*. Connect your phone in PC Suite Mode.
*. In Phoenix, click File -> Manage Connections.
*. Now click New.
*. Now select the type of cable you are using. If you are using DKE-2, CA-53 [N-Series] cable, select USB.

*. Click Next and then Finish.
*. Now your cable type (USB) appears in the connection list. Select it. Click APPLY and then CLOSE.
*. Now select File -> Open Product.
*. A list of RM code will open. Select your phone’s RM code. Like RM-133 for Nokia N73 or RM-84 for Nokia N70 and other nokias with there corresponding Rm Types but choose the one which corresponds to your phone! Click OK. At this steps if you receive an error its okay. Just ignore it.
*. Now select File -> Scan Product.
*. Your phone’s firmware info will appear at the extreme bottom of the Phoenix window.
*. Now go to Flashing -> Firmware Update.
*. A window will open.
*. On that window click Browse button (the one with three dots)
*. A window will open with various products and various regions. Choose the region or country of your choice according to the language pack you want to install.
*. Click Ok.
*. Click Refurbish.
*. Now your actual flashing has started. Don’t touch your phone or press any button until the flashing has finished. Also don’t touch your data cable and your computer system. Remember dont Touch!
*. At the end Phoenix will tell you to remove your phone as the flashing has finished.
*. Now wait for your phone to reboot into latest firmware.
*. The flashing procedure takes 7-10 minutes

4. Flashing dead phones [Which show only white screen on startup] :
Note : You can install any firmware in dead phones whether it is latest and or the old one.
Note (Again) : You can make a deadphone if you want. Just unplug your cable while flashing.

*. The procedure is the same for flashing Dead phones.
*. Start Phoenix. Connect your phone with USB Cable (phone is off at this time).
*. Click File -> Open Product. Select your RM code from the window that appears. Click OK.
*. Click File -> Manage Connections. Select No Connection. Then APPLY and CLOSE.

5. If you want to install another update to your phone after some months, first remove the previous version you installed in C:\Program files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\

DosBox S60 port by kolijoco - MS DOS EMULATOR-(Update :04.05.09)
Full & Slim version

hi all,
i've finally gotten my s60 (wincw emu for now) build to run - which has been done before -, and also to run a dos game (magic candle) - which i'm not so sure has been done.
anyway, if all goes well, there will be some updates and hopefully a sisx release soon...
here's a shot :-)
cheers!

ok, lets try this. here's something adventurous people might like to test drive.
not sure about system requirement, i would guess you need at least a 3rd edition s60 device, and having a minimum 320x240 (either orientation) display is probably a good start.
the release includes:
-my gcce release build,
-the s60 sdl binary release,
-nokia's openc redists (the redistribution license document is included, if you don't agree to the terms within, don't use them! from my limited understanding this should be ok, if not, let me know and i'll kill the post).
-example dosbox.conf and mapper.txt
-"detailed" :-) instructions in README.TXT
DO READ THE README.TXT !!!

i've also built a slim version...
those with memory issues should give this a try...
see the readme.txt for the specifics.
dependencies not included, download them for the first release (post on one of the previous pages).

Release Notes :

i built this release using the 3rd edition sdk, even though i tested the new touch-ui specific functions on the 5th edition sdk emulator build. i really don't know if these 3rd ed builds will work on a 5th ed device like the 5th emu builds did. i can (and will if necessary) release a 5th edition phone release build (though i wont be able tot test that build, for lack of hardware). so, 5800 owners, "feed-me-back", please!

DO I NEED THIS? ===============

if you are using a 5th ed touch-ui device (like the 5800), or have a higher than qvga resolution, then ABSOLUTELY! if your device is a 3rd ed qvga, you only need this if you want the rotate screen function, and/or want easy per-game input mapping (you know you do! :-) notes on scalers:

=================

using scalers other than none will probably have some negative impact on performance. there is probably no pointin using scalers on qvga devices. they're intended for upscaling to qhd (and similarly high) resolutions. don't bother with gl if your device is unaccelerated. notes on the virtual keyboard (for touch-ui):

=============================================

i could only test this on the 5th-ed sdk emulator. (you still haven't donated a 5800, or enough cash for me to buy one :-) that being said, consider the feature BETA. (don' hate if it don' work!) i really wish a dev with device access would join. you'll need to draw your own overlay bitmap and define your own keys. if you've been around, you'll get the hang of it... and earn the right to call yourself a POWER-USER (!!!) ;-)

Changes:

changes from release 20090305:

==============================

- s60mapper -previously 'premapper' - now implemented as 's60map.com' dos command (you can define mappings per game, and load them in the batch file you launch the game with)

- definition of virtual keyboards for touch-ui devices now possible in s60mapper see comments in provided 'virtkeybmap.txt' example for more information

- added various screen scaling engines (software, s60, opengl/gles) primarily intended for qhd (640x360) devices. see provided 'dosbox.conf' comments

- rotate screen 180 degree option added (or resurrected) by popular demand for n95/96ers!

RomPatcherPlus v0.90.600 Test Version By Il.Socio

ROMPATCHER+ 0.9(600) BETA

How to install

There are 3 different ways to install RomPatcher+
1) If your phone has been hacked to allow installation of unsigned .sis then install RomPatcherPlus0.9(500).sis
2) If your phone has been hacked and has the Leftup root ca, then sign the RomPatcherPlus0.9(500).sis using the Leftup certificate and install it.
3) Otherwise, you can sign and install the "Lite Version", using a DevCert or OpenSigned Online. But, in this case, you MUST also manually copy BOTH the files patcher.ldd and patchershadow.ldd in c:\sys\bin\ folder
Patcher.ldd Not Found Error
If you launch RP+ immediately after it has been installed you could get the "patcher.ldd not found" error.
Just reboot the device and launch again RP+
Change-Log BETA 0.9 (600)
+ Fixed: restored compatibilty with OmniaHD
+ New: added patches Open4All and Open4All_N96

Change-Log BETA 0.9

+ Fixed: was not compatible with some devices (eg. E63). The error message "patcher.ldd not found" was shown always also after a reboot.
+ Fixed: some patches were not applied due to additional spaces in the .rmp... Now additional spaces should be handled correcly.
+ Fixed: crash when trying to patch an executable that was missing in the device.
+ Improved: better parsing of the patch file. Both windows and unix text should be handled properly, with unicode/utf8/ascii encoding.
+ New: added LoadPatch/CheckPatch/ApplyPatch logs to the Engine, to Check the correct patch parsing... <-- I know these popups are really annoying, but in order to release the final verion I need to be sure that (almost) ALL the RP patches will work correctly on RP+ also.
+ Removed: autostart correctly works, so popups have been removed (however, other popups have been added to the Engine, so you'll see popups for each patch you put in autostart). Make sure you disable all patches & remove them all from autostart before installing this!.

Samsung OMNIA HD - Full Hack + Full Kastor Transitions Enabling
Omnia HD Full Hack Guide

An HUGE thank you to italian genius Il.Socio for making all of this possible by coding ROMpatcherPlus!
All Omnia HD owners owe you one!

Warning: you MUST already have performed half-hack (helloOX 1.3 or higher) before starting the process.
A simple seach on the forum will give you everything you need, from guide to files.

-Download archive attached to this post
-open the archive RomPatcherPlus0.6 included in it
-open ‘Lite version’ folder
-install RomPatcherPlus sisx file
-copy file patcher.ldd on your phone, then move it on C:/sys/bin by using MODO browser – this is essential to make ROMpatcherPlus work!
-obtain a working c2z patch by opening the included archive and follow the simple instructions
-copy the obtained c2z patch along with the ‘ready to go’ installserver and open4all patches included in E:/Patches if you have installed ROMpatcherPlus in Mass Memory or in F:/Patches if you have installed it on MMC
-open ROMpatcherPlus and activate all the three patches.A green ‘OK’ icon will appear next to patches’ name to confirm correct activation.
DONE!
Now Enjoy your Omnia HD with full file system access and unsigned app installation.

Take Note:
at the moment current version of ROMpatcherPlus does NOT support patch autostart, will be added later by the AWESOME author Il.Socio
From time to time some icon may disappear from ‘applications’ folder in main menù but it can be brought back in all safety by simply reaccessing ROMpatcherPlus and turning OFF the patches.

BONUS:

Kastor transitions effects with Zoom e Smooth Portrait<->Landscape enabling

Discovered and tested by another italian master,n95star!

Following this simple procedure you will activate full kastor transitions, with wonderful results such as in portrait->landscape switch that is supremely cool and worx in all apps, browser included.
Here’s a small vid from the author, demostrating some effects:

HOW TO:
-do the full hack as previously described
-apply patches open4all and c2z by using ROMpatcherPlus
-open the kastor folder included in the attached package, copy the ‘Effects’ and ‘Skins’ folder in your phone, then move them in C:/Resource
-in the themes menù,open the options and then in theme effects deactivate and reactivate them. That’s it!

Or

Details Install Instruction :

*Download HelloOX2.

*Extract the contents. I used X-plore to do so, but you can use any application of your choosing or even extract it on the computer and then send the file to your phone.

*Sign the application with a 17 capability developer certificate which you can easily get.

*Next sign the application on the phone Or PC itself, using the Free Signer application.

*Next run the application, you will see quite a few screens like the following appear:

*Now you will be asked if you want to install Modo, a file manager with the capability of seeing all files, including the ones in the ‘Sys’ folder. Installing it or not will not affect the hack, I chose to install it. The application will then quit and your phone would be ‘hacked’

*But before you can install any unsigned application, you will need to open ‘ROM Patcher’ from the ‘Applications’ folder and activate the ‘Installserver_FP2′ patch.

*Hit Options and then ‘Apply’. That’s it. You can now forget about signing files.

*Lastly, a word of caution. Please be very careful in what unsigned files you install

Whats New HelloOX2 v2.01 Update:
- specially fix for E90, tested on 400.34.93. ROMPatcher seems to not working, so it have been
removed, root cert also removed, only leave installserver and Modo for E90.
- all files install to C, about install to where problem should be gone. but E drive still needed for
ROMPatcher patches
- other small fixes

PS: N97 new firmware 12.0.024 confirmed Hackable with HelloOX2
E52 back to our supported list, root cert could install, but ROMPatcher still doesn't works

Free Up Ur S60v3 C Drive Memory

I.Free Memory deleting Lifeblog db file

(i don't know the author... So must many to him... But i tested and work perfect on my N73me)

im not sure this is the right section but i guess it would be helpful to many guys pissed off by the huge file size of lifeblog db file in phones internal memory.
suddenly internal memory falls to 144k due to the large lifeblog.db file in
c:\data\lifeblog\database\ .which u cant delete for now.

1. use jbtaskman latest version and go to tools\processes and try finding LifeblogDBSERVER.exe file and kill the process
2. now u can go to c:\data\lifeblog\database\ and delete lifeblog.db file
to free memory.
3. now restart phone and repeat step 1
4. again go to c:\data\lifeblog\database\ and change the attributes of lifeblog.db file to 'hidden' and 'read only' using xplore.

Some interesting facts. Not yet tested on all phone but please test yours and let me know the result here.

1. C:\private\10000850\
contains the mbm file of operator logos

2. C:\private\100059c9\start.dat
some kind of autorun trigger. I couldnt decode this file, but it is it, I'm sure.. Why I think so? Because only after renaming or moving this file, autorun doesnt work. In all other cases apps start.

3. C:\private\10202be9\20001079.txt
this location.. In this text file there is code, and a line which says :

Code:
0x00040006 string "clockspeed" 0 0x00040007 int 332 0
on line 41 and 42 of the file.. Overclocking possibility maybe?

also in this file is loads of settings with the graphics processor too, maybe even OC this check it out, im not the experianced when it comes to this, and i do have a spare n95 which i wouldnt care if it blows up, i willing to test it

Code:
0x00A00000 string "/hardware/graphics/displays/0/ngageorientations" 0 0x00A00001 int 0x00090000 0 0x00A00002 string "ngageorientationscount" 0 0x00A00003 int 3 0 0x00A00004 string "defaultngageorientation" 0 0x00A00005 int 0x08 0 0x00A00006 string "useroptions" 0 0x00A00007 int 0x0B 0 0x00A00008 string "wsinimodes" 0 0x00A00009 string "0x01, 0x02, 0x08" 0
ngage stuff there

Code:
0x00090000 string "/hardware/graphics/displays/0" 0 0x00090001 int 0x00080000 0 0x00090002 string "nativewidth" 0 0x00090003 int 240 0 0x00090004 string "nativeheight" 0 0x00090005 int 320 0 0x00090006 string "pixelsperinchx" 0 0x00090007 int 154 0 0x00090008 string "pixelsperinchy" 0 0x00090009 int 154 0 0x0009000A string "nativecolorformats" 0 0x0009000B int 0x00050000 0 0x0009000C string "brightnessadjustable" 0 0x0009000D int 0 0 0x0009000E string "contrastadjustable" 0 0x0009000F int 0 0 0x00090010 string "gammaadjustable" 0 0x00090011 int 0 0
graphics settings there..

4. In Z/private/101f51f2/PKI/96b7db19a4d...../
it has files in called

Code:
devicecert.der deviceprivatekey.der signningcert00.der signningcert01.der
or in Z/private/10203636/security/trustroots/device/certificates/
nokia content signing

Code:
nokiaonlineca.cer PCA3ss_v4.der thawtepremium.cer UTI_Root.der
click on any of them it says save certificate.
then when you click save it says new cert might be unsecure save anyway? I ant got round to clicking save yet

5. C:\PRIVATE\101F4CD2\Content\appshelldata.xml
this file contains the whole menu layout (N82)

6. I found some huge file in phone, c:/private/102072c4/reserved.bin, 4.5 Mb size of plain 0xff.
Deleted it and free up phone memory check if your phone has one.
the files are for FOTA (firmware over the air) coz when i remove it, and go to the device mgr. App it reapears, so its safe to remove it, we wont need it as we never get any FOTA updates.

Download Anything From The Default Browser S60v3

Posted by Dhani_phantom 15.8.09 0 comments
Now you don't have to have opera to download a file not supported by the default browser(nokia browser for me) . For this trick you need to have Coreplayer . You'll find it on the forum in os 9.1 apps section . Then in coreplayer click on Menu/Tools/Preferences . There press left soft key(select page key) . Select file associations page and select 'Asf Media Files' . Press ok . Exit coreplayer . Then using any file manager browse to C:/Data and edit the file named 'coreplayer.ext' . In the first line you should see 'asf' . Change that to your required extention . I changed it to 'rar' . For eg -

download second post attachment :

Then try to download any file with that extention(rar in my case) and it will work . You're required to hide the download window in the browser before download completes and say no if it asks you whether you want to open the downloaded file . Then click options / save file (in your directory of choice) . Done , you need to edit the file to your requirements once per extension . You don't need opera now do you . Check the screenshots . Though they somehow got jumbled up .

Detailed procedure and nice arrangement :

Before we get started you need a file explorer (x-plore works great) and the latest CorePlayer .

1. Open coreplayer and goto tools in the options then open preferences.

2. On the prefenences page select the LEFT softkey called SELECT PAGE then scroll down and select FILE ASSOCIATINS

3. In file assotiations tick the AIF box, then select ok and exit coreplayer

4. Now open your selected file browser (i use x-plore) and goto this path C:\Data\ and locate the file called coreplayer.ext .

5. Now select optins and edit the coreplayer.ext file, at the top you will see
6. Now we need to edit the ext=”aif” and change it to ext=”rar” then save and exit the file browser
7. Open the default browser and locate a .rar file to download

8. Next click on the .rar file to begin download, the download details will open and you will see the download details. On the download details popup it says Hide on the right hand side, you need to select this before the download has finished
9. Once the file has downloaded a popup opens asking to Open the file or save it for Later, select later.

10. Now in the browser options select Downloads, the downloaded files will then show with the .rar file showing as complete
11. Select options and then you have 3 choices, select save and then select your save location.

12. The file will save to the path you choose, then to open it you need to launch an app that supports that file (x-plore opens .rar files).

NOTE: The .rar extension was used as a quide, this will work with ANY file, you just need to follow this quide and use another extesion instead of .rar.

If you do not select the Hide option as shown at point 8 the file will still download but upon download coreplayer will open and try to read the file and fail (just exit coreplayer). If this happens you need to download again as shown above or use your file browser and goto C:\System\dmgr and look in the folders to find the file to move it or open
If you do the coreplayer trick and find it hard to download small files do this, after editing the coreplayer.ext file download y-tasks from Drjukka.com, you need the y-task main app and the file types plugin and the mainserver part (needs signing though), install all 3 parts then open y-tasks in the menu then file types, next scroll down and find application/vnc.coreplayer, set it to open with zip manager, exit Y-tasks, now when you download a .rar file you do not have to select hide like before. Upon download zip manager opens and a pop up asks you if you want to open or copy, select copy and save the rar file, if you select open zip manager gives an error and closes, once copied open the rar file from x-plore, easy as 1, 2, 3 hope this helps!

Once again top work Biggzy, we’ll finally forget the file not supported error!
